The Trauma of War Reflected in Drawings by Chechen Children

These Chechen refugee children’s drawings were presented by Chechen psychiatrist Dr. Kyuri Idrisov at a meeting in Washington, DC on June 2, 2000.

During the 1994-96 Russian war against Chechnya, Dr. Idrisov provided medical and surgical care to the wounded. 
His current work focuses on treating adolescents suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, torture victims who survived filtration camps, mothers of missing persons and other victims of the Russian war against Chechnya.
